My father is making the leap and is starting to direct market our beef, lamb and pork and started a blog here: http://healthymeat.org/. A chef canceled a hamburger order with our buyer so we are stuck with almost 1,000 LBS of dry aged grass-fed beef($4.00 a pound), we also have ten lambs which weigh between 25 and 50 pounds(5.50 lb for whole/6.00 for half) and we will have a lot of pastured pork at the end of January which we are going to sell for $4.00 lb for whole. The only hitch is you have to come to the farm in Delhi, NY or we can work with you with distribution!
(from my dad) Today Dec. 30. 2010 we have:
- 1000 pounds of ground beef from a 2 year old bull, a simental-hereford cross. Bulls tend to be lean so we added 15% fat from other grass fed beef. This bull was born on the farm, pastured and hay fed all it’s life. We would like to get $4 a pound. Discount with greater quantities. It is frozen in 1 pound bags. The best!
- We also have 10 lambs. Individually packed and cryo-vacum-packet. The heavier about 50 pounds, lightest 25 pounds. We would like $5.5 a pound for whole lamb. Half $6; Strictly grass and hay fed of course
- By mid January we will have pastured pork. They will probably be
around 110 pounds or bigger. We would like to get $4 a pound for a whole, a little more for a half. The boars were not castrated and raised in a family croup, very important to pigs.- As of now all our animals are processed at Steiner in Oneonta NY, about 30 minutes from us, an USDA inspected plant.
By buying from our farm you are helping us make this all viable, supporting a local working farm and you are also supporting my father’s life work. Our meat is excellent too with lot’s of flavor and is healthy for you! So email my dad: ikjarval@gmail.com .
Anyone in New York need some great grass fed beef, lamb or pork?
